It was in 2016 when Prince Harry and Meghan Markle started dating. Their relationship quickly evolved into love, and then to a marriage. As Harry revealed in his book, their first fight happened in their first year.
“Maybe the wine went to my head. Maybe the weeks of battling the press had worn me down. For some reason, when the conversation took an unexpected turn, I became touchy,” Harry wrote. “Then angry. Disproportionately, sloppily angry.”
Harry explained that there was a misunderstanding in their conversation due to their cultural differences, which it led him to be cruel.
“I was also just over-sensitive that night, I thought: ‘Why’s she having a go at me?’ I snapped at her, spoke to her harshly [and] cruelly,” Harry added.
“As the words left my mouth, I could feel everything in the room come to a stop. The gravy stopped bubbling, the molecules of air stopped orbiting. Even Nina Simone seemed to pause.”
Then Harry stated that Markle was gone for 15 minutes, before he found her in the bedroom. “She was calm, but said in a quiet, level tone that she would never stand for being spoken to like that. I nodded. She wanted to know where it came from,” Harry revealed.
“‘Where did you ever hear a man speak like that to a woman? Did you overhear adults speak that way when you were growing up?’ I cleared my throat, looked away [and responded], ‘Yes.’”
“She wasn’t going to raise children in an atmosphere of anger or disrespect. She laid it all out, super-clear,” Harry explained.
“It came from somewhere deep inside, somewhere that needed to be excavated, and it was obvious that I could use some help with the job,” Harry wrote in his book.
“‘I’ve tried therapy,’ I told her. ‘Willy told me to go. Never found the right person.’ [It] didn’t work. ‘No,’ she said softly. ‘Try again.’”
As their dispute didn’t end their relationship, the former royal couple tied the knot in 2018. As they had struggled, since Harry revealed in his book, in 2020 they decided to leave their royal roles.
Meghan Markle talked about their decision, and the reasons behind it with The Cut, and revealed that she struggled mentally a lot while she was a member of the royal family.
After Prince Philip’s funeral, Harry and went to Frogmore Cottage and shared, “How beautiful it all is, I thought. And also how sad.”
“Once upon a time, this was going to be my forever home. Instead, it had proved to be just another brief stop.”
“When my wife and I fled this place, in fear for our sanity and physical safety, I wasn’t sure when I’d ever come back. That was January 2020. Now, fifteen months later, here I was, days after waking to thirty-two missed calls and then one short, heart-racing talk with Granny: Harry… Grandpa’s gone.”
As they went to US for a quiet life, their life got complicated once again after they started to talk about royal family, and how they were treated. They later received multi-million deals with Netflix and Spotify.
After their deal with Spotify was canceled, Bill Simmons, the company’s head of podcast innovation and monetization decided to attack Harry and Meghan.
“I wish I had been involved in the ‘Meghan and Harry leave Spotify’ negotiation. The Fucking Grifters, that’s the podcast we should have launched with them,” Simmons shared in his podcast.
“I have got to get drunk one night and tell the story of the Zoom I had with Harry to try and help him with a podcast idea. It’s one of my best stories… Fuck them. The grifters.”
Royal expert Tom Quinn talked about how Harry wants to return UK, and misses his friends in there. A source also shared the same matter.
“He’s an angry boy,” the source said. “Things haven’t turned out how he wanted. I think he misses being over here [in Britain] desperately and wants to be admired more. Anyone who knows him feels he’d rather be top of the pops here with everyone loving him, as they do with [his older brother] William and Kate.”
A different source also shared, “I can’t believe he’d stoop so low.”
“It’s outrageously disloyal. Oprah, Netflix and then the book? Three strikes and you’re out.”
“Harry and [his wife] Meghan could have left with dignity and decency and not trash the institution,” the friend said. “The conclusion is they’ve made money from trashing his family.”
Royal expert Jennie Bond stated that Harry is regretting that he left his life in UK. “If Meghan is encouraging Harry to leave the past behind and move on, then I think it is a healthy move. They have made their decision, left the working royal family and left the UK,” royal expert said.
“He says he now regards the USA as home — at least for the time being,” Bon added. “Brooding on the perceived injustices of the past and re-living old quarrels is a waste of a life, and I think Meghan sees that.”
“It’s easy for her to look forward…ensconced as she is in a country and lifestyle she is so used to and clearly loves. But Harry has said he wants to be reunited with his family…so he is obviously going to think about what has happened and how they have come to this state of affairs,” royal expert continued.
“And that’s probably quite frustrating for Meghan…who seems to be at ease with estrangement from her own family. I don’t think Harry spends ‘all’ his time looking back….but the Harry I knew as a young boy was someone who enjoyed fooling around with his family and having fun with them.”
